Radar features
Radar features, and what to write down before you ask for a price
A detector is a receiver. The features that matter to a buyer are the ones written in the spec sheet: bands, alerts, display, GPS, mounting and updates.
Radar band reception
SPEC / BANDS
Which radar bands the unit receives, as listed for each SKU. Ask for the band list in writing rather than relying on general descriptions.
Laser reception
SPEC / LASER
Whether laser alerts are received, and in which configuration. Laser coverage differs between SKUs.
Alert display and audio
SPEC / DISPLAY
Display type, brightness control, audio level and mute behaviour.
Signal handling
SPEC / ALERT
How repeated or weak signals are handled. Behaviour is documented per SKU and not described in general terms.
GPS module
SPEC / GPS
Position data where a GPS module is fitted. Storage and update behaviour are listed per SKU.
Mounting and wiring
SPEC / MOUNT
Windshield bracket, visor or mirror mount, and hardwire or plug-in power.
Firmware and data updates
SPEC / UPDATE
How firmware or data files are updated, and whether an update needs a computer or a phone.
