Samples

Sample requests and sample approval

How samples are quoted, what a sample proves and does not prove, and what to record before you approve one.

Samples are quoted separately from production, and sample lead time is Pending. A sample is made to the written specification, not picked from a shelf, so it tests the exact configuration you intend to order.

What a sample proves

  • The build matches the specification sheet: band list, display, mounting, and accessories.
  • The unit powers up, receives, alerts, and displays as documented.
  • The packing, manual, and labels match what was agreed.

What a sample does not prove

One unit cannot prove a production rate, a failure rate, or long-term durability. Those are managed through inspection plans and records on the production order. Do not treat a good sample as a substitute for an agreed inspection plan.

Record before you approve

  • Photograph the unit, the accessories, and the packing as received.
  • Measure the unit and the carton, and weigh both.
  • Test power-up, reception, alert display, and audio in a vehicle where possible.
  • Read the manual and the labels the way a customer would.

The full field list is on the sample checklist page. Approval is given in writing, against the specification sheet, and one unopened sample is kept as the production reference.

Ask for a sample against your specification.
