Packing and Carton Reference for Detector Orders
Retail box, inner carton, and export carton choices for radar detector orders, with the packing fields to settle in writing.
Radar detectors are small and dense for their class of goods, which makes packing straightforward, but the choices still change cost and damage rates. Settle the packing fields in the order, not at the warehouse door.
Retail box
Confirm box material, print, and the insert that holds the unit. Electronics retail boxes usually include a molded tray or a blister. Confirm whether the tray is recyclable in your market if you make an environmental statement; otherwise describe the material neutrally. The box carries required statements for the destination market; agree the exact text before print.
Inner protection
A unit rattling in a retail box arrives with scuffed screens. Confirm the insert design holds the unit and the accessories without movement, and that the display face is protected. Ask for a photograph of the packed retail box from a random production carton, not a staged one.
Export carton
- Carton dimensions, gross weight, and units per carton, stated per SKU.
- Carton strength suited to the route; sea freight adds humidity and stacking.
- Shipping marks: PO number, model, quantity, and any barcode the receiver requires.
- Whether cartons are palletized, and the pallet footprint.
Documents on the carton
Carton counts and marks must match the packing list exactly. Ask for pre-shipment photographs of packed cartons with the marks visible, and compare them with the packing list before the goods leave.
Labels on the retail box
Confirm which statements, barcodes, and origin markings the box must carry for your market, and who supplies the artwork. Do not rely on the factory to know your market's requirements; state them, and approve the proof in writing.
Packing is cheap to change on paper and expensive to change in production. Approve every printed item on a proof, and keep the proofs with the order file.
